“Community Conversations: Understanding Inequality and Social Justice Through an Intersection Lens”

Bemidji State University’s Community Engagement Council will host “Community Conversations: Understanding Inequality and Social Justice Through an Intersectional Lens” on March 16 at 4:30 p.m.

The discussion will focus on how inclusion and inequality is experienced in many forms and at different intensities throughout people’s lives and will feature Dr. Mary Romero, professor emerita of justice studies and social inquiry at Arizona State University.

Romero was recently selected as the 2021 Distinguished Feminist Lecturer and is the author of “Introducing Intersectionality,” “Maid’s Daughter: Inside and Outside the American Dream” and “Maid in the U.S.A.” In 2017, Romero received the American Sociological Association Cos-Johnson-Frazier Award for a lifetime of research, teaching and service to the community.
