Headwaters Music and Arts hosts Joy Zimmerman and Ryan Dugan in concert on Friday, June 10 at 7:30 pm in their performance hall at 519 Minnesota Ave NW, Bemidji.
Folk and acoustic roots singer-songwriter Joy Zimmerman is a touring musician based in Kansas City, MO. At home on guitar and violin, Joy’s most recent album, The Canvas Before Us, debuted at #8 Top Album on the Folk Alliance International Folk Chart. Her songwriting has been recognized nationally with an American Songwriter Lyric Contest Honorable Mention and ten Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Showcase wins. Her music has been described as “vivid and alive, tender and poignant, and altogether a gift for the listener.” (Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg, Kansas Poet Laureate Emeritus)
Joy will be performing with her son Ryan Dugan. Ryan graduated with a music degree from Macalester College, focusing on guitar and audio engineering. He lives in Minneapolis and performs with groups in both Minneapolis and Kansas City, including Good Luck Alaska, Joy Zimmerman, Tension Bridge, Geyser, and The Taylors.
The 7:30pm June 10 concert is free-will donation at the door. Headwaters Music and Arts is an independent non-profit multidisciplinary organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for creativity through instruction and to inspire community through music and the arts.
