Music & Movement Fall Block
Headwaters Music & Arts holds its latest group music class for children ages 5-8. Music & Movement is an 8 session class led by Suzuki trained and long time music teacher Julia Anderson held Fridays, 4:00-4:45 pm, December 2-February 3 (no session Dec. 23 or 30) at Headwaters Music & Arts (519 MN Ave NW, Bemidji). The class explores music through songs and movement while introducing students to a variety of instruments.
An exploratory group class, Music & Movement offers a positive and encouraging environment to explore the basic building blocks of music such as pitch, rhythm, and tempo through group songs, dance, and games. This fall, students will have an opportunity to explore piano during the fall block, (no practice at home is expected!) and if they plan to join for the winter and spring 8 session blocks they can expect to explore the recorder and then the violin and ukulele, respectively. At the end of the fall block the group will have a showcase so that students can show off to friends and family what they have learned. There is a one time fee for an instrument kit containing a shaker egg, kazoo and recorder which students can bring home after they are through.
The cost to attend is $150 for each participant with an additional, one time, $10 charge for the instrument kit. Limited financial assistance is available. Space is limited, advance registration is required.
