Sanford POWER strength and conditioning for Bemidji student athletes

June 1, 2021

Sanford POWER will host its annual summer strength and conditioning program June 7 through Aug. 11 with enhanced guidelines to ensure athlete and trainer safety.

“Safety has always been our number one priority at POWER whether it’s ensuring our local high school athletes are trained and conditioned to avoid sports injuries or taking precautions due to COVID-19,” said Aryn Ball, Sanford Power coordinator for Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota. “It’s important that we are able to help our local athletes safely prepare to compete in their upcoming high school sports seasons.”

The summer program will be held at the Bemidji High School and the new Sanford POWER Center within the Bemidji Community Arena (BCA). No more than 16 students per hour long session will be allowed per training coach with a maximum of 6 coaches.

Middle and high school athletes (entering grades 5-12, Fall of 2021) in Bemidji will have the opportunity to participate in the strength and conditioning program. The POWER program offers ground-based training techniques to improve overall athletic enhancement.

Area professionals and Sanford Health’s athletic trainers will lead the POWER summer program. The training implements the latest in strength, speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility, explosive power development, along with conditioning training and injury prevention.

Sessions will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting June 7 through Aug. 11 with hour-long sessions scheduled in half hour increments from 6:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

The registration form and fee of $100 is due by Tuesday, June 1. Checks should be made out to the BHS Athletic Department.
