TheGo and Whoa Harness Club will offer horse-drawn sleigh rides at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds to benefit Bemidji Community Food Shelf(BCFS).
This delightful annual event will be Sunday,March 22 from 1-3 p.m.
For a suggested donation of $3, or a bag of non-perishable food, drivers and horses will take passengers on a spirited ride in a generous loop around the fairgrounds. Hot beverages and food will be available for purchase in the heated 4-H Building.
“Because draft horses are not common, we look for ways the community can enjoy them too,” said Stacy Schussman, event organizer and a member of the Harness Club.
“The Sleigh Ride lets people see a variety of draft horse breeds while engaging in a fun activity that helps our community.”
All donations to the Food Shelf will receive a partial match through the Minnesota Food Share March Campaign to help the food shelf purchase food.
BCFS has been in operation since 1982 and annually provides nearly 3,000 food insecure households with emergency food support. In 2019, BCFS shared over 925,000 pounds of food with area families, over half of which was purchased. Nearly 50% of people served are elders and children under 18.
