Adults ages 15 and up are invited to explore the shirred rug-making technique with local teaching artist Starr Ann Lenz. Using wool fabric, students will learn how to incorporate rich textures, colors and patterns into this traditional style of rug-making. Over the course of the workshop, participants will create a sample-sized, mini reversible rug.
For those who would like to know more about the technique prior to signing up, Lenz will be at Watermark this Saturday, March 18, demonstrating the technique. There is no charge for the demonstration. All are welcome to drop in between 11:00am to 3:00pm.
Two Saturdays are included with registration: April 8 and 15th, from 10:00am to 1:00pm for both days. Class fee is $40 for Watermark members or $45 for non-members. An additional materials fee of $25 for tools and materials will be payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Please visit the class webpage for complete information and registration: watermarkartcenter.org/product/standing-fabric-rug-making/
