The Mask and Rose Theater located on the rural campus of Belle Thalia Creative Arts Space in Puposky was awarded a Region 2 Arts Grant to offer a combo theater and ecology summer experience for youth grades 3 – high school.
Youth will work with Cate Belleveau, who has a Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Education, and served as a director of Gifted Ed. as well as an extended experience as a theater director.
Youth will experience active games out of doors that teach ecological concepts as well as theater games, mask work, create sets, sculptures, and costumes, and prepare for a musical production of the United Nations-awarded theatrical show – “To Save the Planet.”
Cate is joined by the artistic team of Annalise Aakhus as music director, as well as painter, Amara Bedford, and sculptor, Al Belleveau, as resident visual artists.
Registration for this youth experience is now open and there is no cost.
The theater/eco experience will run from Tuesday July 11 – to Friday July 21 from 9-4:00 PM (childcare for a small fee can be arranged if youth must be dropped off at 8:00 AM or picked up after 4:00 PM ) with 2 performances for families and the public on July 22 at 6:30 PM and a matinee at 3:00 PM on July 23.
We are looking for high school youth to serve as paid position assistants with costume and set design and to assist with stage management as well.
