Bemidji Firefighter Walter Lindahl was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis this past April.
The disease has progressed resulting in Lindahl not being able to work.
He is currently undergoing treatment at the Mayo Clinic as he awaits a double lung transplant.
The transplant, according to a notice, is the only cure for this disease.
A benefit will be held this Sunday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Bemidji Eagles Club.
A pulled pork sandwich dinner will begin at 2 p.m. at $10 per meal ticket.
A cornhole tournament will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a $25 per person entry fee, with first-place receiving a cash prize.
The benefit will also include a bake sale, silent auction and raffle.
Cash donations can be dropped at Riverwood Bank, under the account name “Walter Lindahl’s Benefit.”
