Fallen Red Lake officer’s funeral is today

Red Lake Tribal Officer Ryan Bialke’s funeral is this afternoon.

Cease Family Funeral Home says the funeral is 1 p.m. at the Red Lake Humanities Center, with interment at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.

A wake began yesterday and will continue until the service.

Bialke was shot and killed in the line of duty last Tuesday at a home in Redby.

The suspect, 28-year-old David Donnell, Jr., faces federal charges of second-degree murder and four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Bialke grew up in Buffalo, Minn., and was a six-year veteran of the Red Lake Tribal Police Department.

He leaves behind a wife and four children.

Gov. Tim Walz ordered flags be flown at half-staff today in Bialke’s honor.
