Fertile man facing assault charges after shooting in Oklee

A Fertile man is behind bars awaiting charges after a shooting Monday afternoon in Oklee.

The Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m. on report of a shooting outside a home on Elm St.

The victim, Cody Landrus, was ultimately airlifted to a Fargo hospital and remains in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.

The 27-year-old suspect was transported to a Thief River Falls hospital for a head injury and later released to law enforcement.

The suspect is facing an assault with a dangerous weapon charge.

Landrus and the shooter were acquaintances. The case remains under investigation.
