The filing period for local office has closed, and there will be primaries for several local elections this August.
Primaries will be held for council and board seats that have more than two candidates that have filed, since all candidates in these races run non-partisan. The filing period closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 2.

Ward 2 special election: Jaime Thibodeaux and Josh Peterson
Ward 3: Incumbent Ron Johnson, Paul Wiese and Greg Kuhn
Ward 5: Incumbent Nancy Erickson, Don Heinonen and Ernest Joseph Oppegaard-Peltier

House 2B: Incumbent Republican Steve Green and DFL-challenger David Suby.
House 5A: Incumbent John Persell (DFL-Bemidji) and Republican challenger Matt Bliss of Pennington.
House 5B: Republican Spencer Igo and DFLer Joe Abeyta. Incumbent Republican Sandy Layman did not file.

District 2: Incumbent Paul Utke (R-Park Rapids) and DFL challenger Leonard Alan Roy of White Earth.
District 5: Incumbent Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids), DFL challenger Rita Albrecht of Bemidji, Grassroots-Legalize Cannabis candidate Dennis Barsness of Bovey and Legal Marijuana Now candidate Robyn Smith of Longville.
