Filing period opens tomorrow for at-large seat

The filing period for the at-large seat on the Bemidji City Council will open tomorrow and close on Tuesday, August 11.

The vacancy, declared in June, will fill Jim “Doc” Thompson’s seat, which expires at the end of December 2022.

Thompson resigned in mid-June, citing health concerns.

The affidavit of candidacy and filing fee can be accepted in person or by mail, and must be received on or before August 11.

The initial special election will be Tuesday, November 3, the same day as the general election.

Affidavits and other filing information can be found on the City of Bemidji’s website.
