Fire claims life of Shevlin man

A man is dead after a house fire in Shevlin yesterday evening.

According to a release from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies and the Shevlin Fire Department responded to the call and found a house on Roosevelt Street burning around 6:30, and the body of 36-year-old Michael Norgaard was found inside the home.

The Sheriff says Norgaard had come home and found the house full of smoke.

He called his sister to ask her to call 9-1-1 and that he was going in to get his dogs out.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, but no cause of fire has yet been determined.

An autopsy is scheduled for today at UND Forensic Pathology in Grand Forks.
