Grand Rapids man sentenced for child pornography

A Grand Rapids man was sentenced last week to five years in prison for possession of child pornography.

According to a release from the Itasca County Attorney’s Office, 33-year-old Benjamin Basden previously entered guilty pleas to the four counts.

The prosecutor, Itasca County Attorney Matti Adam, asked the court to sentence Basden to the statutory maximum sentence, based on the severity of the offenses and his criminal history, which includes a previous second degree criminal sexual conduct conviction.

Basden will be required to register as a predatory offender and comply with a 10 year conditional release period.
