Gravel roads in rough shape across Beltrami County

Gravel roads within Beltrami County are in rough shape.

County Engineer Bruce Hasbargen says that due to the weather, little can be done to fix them.

“With the frost and moisture coming up from below, combined with the snow and rain coming down from above, no maintenance can be performed,” he said.

Hasbargen said if the roads were graded now they would be even worse, with soft sloppy roads and even bigger potholes.

Drivers are reminded to be patient and slow down when on area gravel roads.
