Great River Rescue recognized with Touchstone Energy Community Award

The Beltrami Electric Cooperative named Great River Rescue as the winner of the 2022 Touchstone Energy Community Award.

GRR is a community-funded and supported nonprofit organization that is committed to finding stable homes for animals in northern Minnesota.

It is a no-kill animal shelter that operates in Bemidji and provides numerous services in the area, such as Pet Fixers, a low-cost spay & neuter clinic; microchipping services for any pet owner, which greatly increases the chances of a lost pet being returned; and even partnering with Northwoods Battered Women’s Shelter to provide temporary foster care for pets of victims of domestic violence.

“Great River Rescue clearly demonstrates a strong commitment to community that we at Beltrami Electric value highly,” said BEC Communications Specialist Angela Lyseng.

“We are very pleased to recognize Great River Rescue’s contributions to our local communities.”

GRR’s local award application will be submitted for statewide consideration, with the overall winner receiving $2,000 toward their community cause of choice.
