Groundbreaking tomorrow for Bemidji Veterans Home

The groundbreaking for the Bemidji Veterans Home is tomorrow morning.

Speakers will include US Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congressman Pete Stauber, Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach, MDVA Commissioner Larry Herke, state Senator Justin Eichorn, State Representative Matt Bliss, and local VSO Scotty Allison.

The groundbreaking will be at 10 a.m. across the street from Neilson Place on Anne Street.

The home, expected to open mid-2023, will include 72 private residential units, split into four, 18-resident wings, with several public spaces and amenities.

The Home will hire about 140 people in administration, health care, housekeeping, maintenance and food service.

Interested Veterans and other eligible residents meeting the clinical requirements for skilled nursing care can work with their local County Veterans Service Officer on the application process.
