The construction on Highway 2 west of Bemidji is now complete.
The project began in May and included a series of reduced conflict intersections, also known as “J-Turns,” from Beltrami County Road 9 to County 14 in Wilton.
MnDOT says J-turns create a 70 percent reduction in fatalities and a 42 percent reduction in injury crashes because they make it safer for vehicles to cross and merge by decreasing the number of lanes they need to cross at one time.
The improvements to Highway 2 also include 45 LED street lights, with three additional lights to be installed as materials allow.
