Highway 71 project enters fourth and final stage

The Highway 71 project in Bemidji is almost complete as crews are currently in the fourth and final stage of the project.

According to a release from MnDOT, workers will complete the median work. All four legs of the Anne Street roundabout are open to traffic.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 71 are also open, but the inside lanes will remain closed for median construction.

During this stage, drivers will use the signed detours, Irvine Avenue ramps or the Anne Street roundabout, depending on their location.

For example, drivers wanting to turn south out of Lakes Concrete will turn north on Highway 71 and then use the Irvine ramps to turn south onto Highway 71.

Construction is expected to be completed in October, and in addition to the roundabout at Anne Street, the highway will feature a number of reduced-conflict intersections or J-turns.
