The federal Housing and Urban Development department recently awarded $39 million to preserve public housing in the state.
According to a release, the annual grants allow public housing authorities to build, renovate and modernize community public housing.
The HRA in Bemidji received over $234,000, in Bagley, over $60,000, in Cass Lake, over $101,000, in Park Rapids, over $110,000, and in Walker, over $46,000.
