Human remains in Cass County linked to Ham Lake man reported missing three years ago

Human remains found in a heavily wooded area near Cass County’s Blind Lake are confirmed to belong to a Ham Lake man reported missing three years ago.

Sheriff Tom Burch reports a survey crew located the remains on June 7.

On June 16, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner confirmed they belonged to 62-year-old David Rickbeil.

Rickbeil’s vehicle was found unoccupied but running in the area on July 13, 2018.

A missing person’s investigation was launched within days after finding the vehicle.

Extensive searches of the heavily wooded and swampy area were conducted by foot, ATV, drone, air support, and K9s.

That investigation determined that no foul play is suspected and that Rickbeil likely walked away from his vehicle.
