Bemidji will have its own Juneteenth celebration thanks to organizers with Project for Change.
The event this Saturday afternoon will be held at the Rail River Folk School and will host speakers reflecting the 156th Anniversary of the end of slavery in this country.
The event is free, and will also feature live music, dancing, bag lunches, booths for area nonprofits as well as games for children.
The event will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Project for Change is a local, nonprofit, and non-partisan change group, “formed on building awareness, creating social opportunities, and enriching the quality of life for historically marginalized, disadvantaged, oppressed, and resilient black and brown communities through policy, accountability, and action.”
