TEN LAKE TOWNSHIP– A Beltrami County K9 Unit is credited as being instrumental in the recent arrest of a wanted felon.

According to a release from Sheriff Ernie Bietel, deputies and officers from the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department responded to a gunshot report in an area of Ten Lake Township in the early morning hours of July 1.

Leech Lake officers arrived in the area first and conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle, when the male suspect fled from the car into the woods.

Deputy Kyle Nohre and his K9 partner Mac arrived on scene and tracked the suspect, 31-year-old Floyd R. Desjarlais of Cass Lake. A total of five people were arrested from this incident.

Desjarlais had an active felony warrant, a history of assaultive behavior and weapons possession, and was a person of interest in a recent crime of violence in Cass County.
