KBUN To Broadcast Bemidji High School’s Drive Through Graduation

KBUN SportsRadio 104.5 has done a lot of play by play over the years…Baseball, Softball, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, Wrestling, even Golf and Curling. But Saturday, May 23rd marks a first. Joel Hoover and Kev Jackson will broadcast…graduation. With social distancing and distance learning, the traditional graduation ceremony with students, friends and family gathering in an arena or auditorium is verboten.

But that hasn’t stopped Bemidji High School from creating a memorable event for its graduating seniors. This year’s graduation ceremony will feature grads and immediate family traveling through town in a caravan from the Sanford Center parking lot to Bemidji High School, where they will drive up and have a school official hand them their diploma.

To allow for a fuller experience and to help friends and non-immediate family enjoy the event, it will be broadcast on KBUN-FM 104.5, appropriately the Bemidji Lumberjack station. Beginning at 9am Saturday, as the caravan makes its way from Sanford Center to Bemidji High School, KBUN will air the graduation ceremony including pre-recorded speeches from administration and honor students, as well as musical selections from the Bemidji High School choir, orchestra and bands. Once the caravan makes its way to the BHS parking lot, Joel and Kev will announce the names of the graduates as they come through, along with awards and achievements.

Again, it begins at 9am Saturday on KBUN-FM 104.5 or online HERE.
