Knife River Corporation earns safety award

Knife River Corporation recently earned a prestigious safety award.

According to a release, the Liberty Mutual Risk Management Excellence Award has been granted fewer than 20 times in more than 100 years.

The award highlights the efforts of the Knife River Training Center in Oregon to promote safety in the construction industry.

The facility opened in the spring of 2022, designed to build skills for career advancement by providing classroom education with hands-on experience.

The facility features an 80,000-square-foot temperature-controlled dome, an attached 16,000-square-foot classroom building and an outdoor training facility on 230 acres. Classes are open to Knife River employees as well as the general public and other companies that want to utilize the facility and the curriculum to advance their own teams.

“We built the Training Center to promote construction as a career of choice and to help people develop their skills in a safe environment,” said Knife River President and CEO Brian Gray.

“The ability to provide equipment and truck training in a controlled space – in addition to all the safety aspects that were designed into the center – underscores our commitment to truly being a people-first company.”
