Local agency awarded $200,000 grant from DEED

The Northwest Indian Community Development Center was recently awarded a $200,000 grant from Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, as part of ten new grants designed to boost nontraditional careers for women.

The grant will be used with the Women’s Transitioning Home Work Program, which recruits American Indian women with criminal convictions, provides a basic education for these women to complete their GEDs, and provides training in welding, carpentry, construction and machinery.

The NWICDC serves Beltrami, Cass and Clearwater counties.
