Local senator criticized for comments comparing homeless encampment to recreational camping

District 5 Senator Justin Eichorn is being criticized for comments he made in a since-deleted video posted on Twitter.

In a statement from Eichorn, he said the video posted, which “may have missed the mark,” was an“attempt to convince the Governor to take heed of the dismal economic conditions” up north.

Eichorn, a Republican from Grand Rapids, represents District 5, which includes portions of Cass and Itasca Counties as well as a portion of Beltrami County, including Bemidji.
