Lynn Eaton presumed victor of special Ward 5 race

The unofficial results are in for the special Ward 5 race.

Lynn Eaton with 134 votes, gaining more than 50 percent of the vote.

There were 1,831 registered voters in the ward with 253 participating in the special election, representing a 14 percent voter turnout.

Ninety-one voters submitted absentee ballots.

Ward 5’s seat had been vacant since longtime councilor Nancy Erickson resigned last September.

The Bemidji City Council is slated to canvass the election results Friday.

Eaton is a retired civil engineer and longtime Bemidji resident.
