Mendota man killed in Cass County snowmobile crash

An 18-year-old Mendota man was killed in a snowmobile crash on Gull Lake Friday night.

According to a release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and first responders arrived and found that a 1997 Arctic Cat crashed into the wooded and rocky shoreline of Birch Island.

The victim was airlifted to a St. Cloud hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This is the fourth serious snowmobile crash this month in Cass County, and Sheriff Tom Burch reminds all riders to use extreme caution on trails and lakes.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Pillager Police Department, Pillager Fire and Rescue, and North Memorial Ambulance and Aircare assisted at the scene.
