MnDOT grants $75 million for local road improvements

MnDOT is awarding $75 million in Local Road Improvement grants to 75 statewide road projects.

The funding is from an additional $110 million into MnDOT’s budget for specific projects from the legislature.

Beltrami County is getting $1.25 million to improve Birchmont Beach Rd. NE, or CSAH 20.

Bemidji will receive $605,000 for work on Elliot Rd. NE.

Park Rapids is getting $1.25 million for Fair Ave. Cass County will receive $1.25 million for CR 37/50.

According to a release, 425 applicants requested a total of $344 million in this program.

Specific criteria like the road’s regional significance and how the project could improve it while removing deficiencies determined the grants.
