MnDOT to discuss road projects during council meeting

The Bemidji City Council will hold a work session Monday on MnDOT’s plans for future road construction.

Next year, MnDOT plans work for intersections on Highway 71, with a new roundabout planned for the Anne St. intersection.

Highway 71 reconstruction also includes reduced conflict intersections at Fern Rd., Balsam Rd., Blueberry Ln., Lakewood Dr. and Town Hall/Glidden Rd.

The council will also review the Highway 197 corridor study.

MnDOT presented a plan nearly 3 years ago to install multiple roundabouts along the corridor from Dick’s Northside to near the Airport.

The council at that time rejected it.

The project went back to the drawing board and a committee was formed, which has been meeting monthly over Zoom since August.

The Bemidji City Council’s work session will be held Monday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m over Cisco Webex.
