More discussion expected on Bardwell Park Incentive Program during council meeting

The Bemidji City Council will officially consider an incentive to connect the Bardwell Park area to city water.

This opt-in measure could allow these parcels to connect to city services with up to $3,000 in rebates.

As part of the 3M negotiations, members of the city’s Environmental Counsel advised this action for this neighborhood, as it sits directly southeast of the city’s well-fields.

If the PFAs plume were to migrate, that is the direction it would likely go.

MDH did test the private wells in Bardwell Park for PFAs, which were found to be without any traces of the possible carcinogen. ‘

During the regular meeting this evening, the council will also consider a purchase of fire equipment as well as the second reading of an ordinance amending the firearms and hunting segment of the city code.

The amendment allows hunting with shotguns and muzzleloaders in the newly-annexed Bemidji Game Refuge.
