More than 1,000 grads celebrated at BSU, NTC Commencements

More than 1,000 graduates were celebrated during the commencements of Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College.

Of BSU’s 1,014 graduating students, 88 received master’s degrees, 482 graduated with honors, 49 were American Indian graduates, 36 were military personnel or veterans and 18 were international students.

Bemidji State’s 2022 Distinguished Minnesotan Arne Vainio, a family practice physician on Fond du Lac Reservation, delivered the commencement address, highlighting the Seven Grandfather Teachings of Anishinaabe culture– honesty, respect, truth, courage, wisdom, humility and love.

NTC celebrated 188 graduates in its class of 2022, with 96 of the 188 college graduate receiving honors recognition, reserved for students with cumulative grade-point averages of 3.50 or higher.
