More than 400 participate in Highway 197 corridor survey

More than 400 community members provided feedback on the proposed Highway 197 corridor project.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Headwaters Regional Development Commission, and a panel of stakeholders have been meeting for more than a year, as MnDOT plans reconstruction of the corridor in about six years when the pavement reaches the end of its useful life.

MnDOT initially presented a proposal for six roundabouts to be constructed along the corridor, but the council, at that time two years ago, rejected it.

The new proposal, with options including either one or two roundabouts on the western side of the corridor, will be presented before the council in September.

A link to provide additional comments on the plan is available on MnDOT’s website.
