Motley teen killed in boating accident near Hackensack

A 13-year-old Motley girl was killed in a boating accident in Hackensack Sunday.

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch says his office received the report around 10 p.m. of a boat crash with injuries.

A 50-year-old Horace, North Dakota man was operating the boat on Ten Mile Lake when he possibly struck something near the shoreline.

The 13-year-old girl was thrown forward in the boat, causing injury.

Lifesaving efforts were immediately initiated by family members on the scene and then by law enforcement, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
