Nearly 80 percent of eligible Minnesotans voted

Secretary of State Steve Simon convened the state canvassing board and says of all eligible voters in the state, almost 80 percent turned out to vote, and almost 60 percent of those voted absentee.

Simon says the 3.293 million Minnesotans that voted this year represent the highest percentage of voter turnout since 1956 in the state, and the most total voters ever.

This is the third election in a row that Minnesota was first in the nation for voter turnout.

Simon says there were no reports of voter intimidation, no evidence of voter fraud, and the election ran smoothly, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
