A Nevis man was charged with first degree drug possession, ineligible possession of a firearm, and a drug DWI after an incident in Hubbard County in late December.
According to the criminal complaint, 24-year-old Tracy Teigen was observed by off-duty Park Rapids Police Chief Jeff Appel crashing into a snowbank with a truck.
During an investigation after the crash, law enforcement arrested Teigen on suspicion of driving under the influence, and the handgun in the truck was taken by an officer. A subsequent search of the truck found 80 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale.
Teigen has a lengthy criminal history with convictions including felon in possession of a firearm, felony damage to property and felony assault.
Teigen made a court appearance earlier this week, and is scheduled to next appear in March.
Unconditional bail was set at $250,000, and Teigen remains in custody.
