Nevis man cited for his role in out-of-control fire

A Nevis man was cited for his role in an out-of-control fire on his property Monday during burning restrictions.

Deputies from the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of smoke around 3rd Crow Wing Lake.

They found a large fish house, a shed as well as a large portion of woods on fire upon arrival to the scene on Crescent Ridge Trail.

The landowner was reportedly burning leaves and brush earlier in the day, then left. He was away while the piles rekindled and spread.

Most of Minnesota, including Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater and Hubbard counties, is under spring burning restrictions.
