New software to be rolled out from the Joint Planning Board

The Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Board is preparing to roll out a new software this spring.

According to their annual report, “Dude Solutions” or Smart Gov will streamline permit processing and inspections, which should add some efficiencies to the process for both staff and the public.

The report says that the rollout was delayed by eight months due to high staff turnover in the department. The hope is that the software will be up and running in or before May.

The software will have a citizen portal for the public to submit applications, track permit status and review real-time inspection results.

In the coming year, the JPB is planning a full zoning and subdivision ordinance update as well as beginning the 18-month process of custom airport zoning with the Bemidji Regional Airport.
