(Walker)  The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens that HAZMAT and transportation accident training will be happening today and tomorrow at the Cedar Lakes Casino facility. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will deploy signage, and the public is asked to reduce speeds and take extra care when traveling around the training activities. (Bemidji Now)

>>New Memorandum Of Agreement Announced by White Earth Nation

WHITE EARTH, MINN. – Leaders from the White Earth Nation (WEN) and representatives of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) gathered at a community ceremony yesterday at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, to celebrate the signing of a significant Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).The MOA simplifies the permitting process for various treaty-protected activities, meaning Band members will no longer have to acquire separate permits from each organization.The White Earth Nation will align its Conservation Code consistent with federal standards, sovereignty, and treaty rights and be able to issue a single permit. According to a press release, this agreement also ensures the preservation of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. (Bemidji Now)

>>Duluth Teen Found Guilty Of Shooting Childhood Friend

(Duluth, MN) — A Duluth 19-year-old has been found guilty of intentional second-degree murder of shooting his 17-year-old childhood friend. The teen admitted to shooting his friend after being accused of theft. The victim’s 12-year old brother witnessed the shooting and reported it to the police. The shooter turned himself in the next morning, claiming self-defense. The teen is scheduled to be sentenced in August. (24/7 News Source)

>>Man Pleads Guilty To Sex Crimes In Grand Forks County

(Grand Forks, ND) —   A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to sex crimes against underage girls in Grand Forks County.  Forty-seven-year-old Manuel Martinez Jr is accused of sexually abusing four young girls between 2012 and 2021, and is charged with four counts of felony gross sexual imposition.  Martinez will be sentenced on August 30th, and a 50-year sentence with 20 years suspended has been recommended as part of a plea agreement. >>Local Fundraiser Raises Over 55 Thousand Dollars For Fallen Officer Family

(Minneapolis, MN) — A last-minute fundraiser raised 55-thousand-dollars for a Minneapolis fallen officer. The fundraising event was organized by The Front Line Foundation and Purpose Restaurants. The Chef donated proceeds from Apostle Supper Club sales to Officer Jamal Mitchell’s family. Over three thousand people contributed to the sale on June 1st. The 36-year old officer died in the line of duty while responding to a call about gunfire. There is also a GoFundMe campaign set up for his family. (24/7 News Source)

>>Minnesotans Can Apply For e-Bike Rebate

(St. Paul, MN)    The Minnesota Department of Revenue says the state’s new e-bike rebate program is open as of today.  People can apply for up to a 15-hundred dollar rebate starting at 11 a.m., with the amount based on their income.  The state will stop issuing the rebates after it cuts ten-thousand checks.  (24/7 News Source)

>>Minnesota DNR To Study Northeastern Deer Herd.

(St. Paul, MN)    Minnesota is going to start a new deer population count for the northeastern part of the state next month. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says the study will take three years. The DNR says unlike past studies, which relied on airplanes, this study will use trail cameras on both public and private land. There are concerns that the reintroduction of wolves has led to a massive decline in deer in northern Wisconsin. (24/7 News Source)

>>Second Juror Dismissed After Bribe Attempt In Feeding Our Future Trial

(Minneapolis, MN) — Two jurors have been dismissed in the Feeding our Future trial in Minneapolis. A bag of cash was dropped off to a juror in an attempted bribe for a not-guilty plea. The 120-thousand-dollars cash is now evidence in a federal investigation of attempted bribery and jury tampering. The remaining jurors have been sequestered to prevent any other attempts.  The defendants were taken into custody.(24/7 News Source)
