Northern Elementary’s Richards is Bemidji’s Teacher of the Year

Mrs. Susan Richards was named the 2021 Teacher of the Year.

According to a release from the Bemidji Education Association, Mrs. Richards retired last May after a career spanning 30 years.

Mrs. Richards, a former third-grade teacher at Northern Elementary School, is eligible to apply for the statewide Teacher of the Year Award.

Mr. Norm Carlson, a Lincoln Elementary foster grandparent, was recognized as Lay Educator of the Year.

Thirteen members of the Bemidji School District’s Health Para Team received awards for Support Professional of the Year.

These educators were recognized during a gathering at Bemidji High School yesterday and were given an engraved plaque and keychain from Ken K. Thompson Jewelry, a gift certificate to the Green Mill and an arrangement from Netzer’s Floral.
