Oklee man sentenced to 40 years in prison for wife’s murder

An Oklee man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the intentional murder of his wife.

Forty-six-year-old Eric Reinbold pleaded not guilty in October 2021 and has sat in custody ever since his capture with a $10 million bond.

After stabbing his wife and leaving her body for their children to find on July 9, 2021, Reinbold led officials on a nearly four-week manhunt before he was captured near his family’s property in Red Lake County.

Reinold was convicted in the federal courts in 2018 for making pipe bombs and was released from federal prison on parole.

Reinbold had a prior domestic assault conviction from 2015 when he brandished a handgun and rammed his vehicle into hers while two children were inside the car.

Reinbold’s state case went to a Pennington County jury trial in which he was convicted of two counts of murder in the second degree.

Reinbold received credit for 525 days in local custody.
