One killed, one seriously injured in Itasca County crash

One woman was killed and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon .

According to the state patrol, 57-year-old Kim Renee Brown of Grand Rapids was westbound on Highway 2, and 24-year-old Brienne Brodie of Duluth was eastbound in a Chevy truck.

Brodie’s truck crossed over into the westbound lane, striking Brown’s Jeep head-on.

Brodie was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was transported to the Midwest Medical Center for treatment of life threatening injuries.

The Grand Rapids and Coleraine Police Departments assisted at the scene.
