More than 100 vehicles participated in the United Way’s COVID-19 caravan Thursday afternoon.
Paul Bunyan Broadcasting’s Kev Jackson and 2020 United Way Campaign Co-Chair Jake Bluhm kicked off the event on 95.5 KZY, while participants listened in and drove around Lake Bemidji.
The event was created to bring the community together, have some fun, and learn about accurate COVID related happenings in our local community,” Bluhm shared.
“My wife and I reached out to United Way looking to do something fun and positive for Bemidji and the United Way did a great job combining it with their LINC Young Professionals goal of informing the community about accurate and local information.”
Jackson interviewed CEO of Sanford Health Susan Jarvis, Public Health Director Cynthia Borgen, Mayor Rita Albrecht, Greater Bemidji Director Dave Hengel and United Way Director Danae Alamano.
Pre-ordered dinners were provided by the 209 Bar & Grill, and complimentary Dairy Queen Treatzza Pizzas were given to participants who completed the bingo cards, with special clues given in each of Jackson’s interviews.
The treats were from the Gifts of Hope Fund, which was a partnership between the United Way and the Bemidji Alliance. Sanford Health operated a “Swag Stop” near the Bemidji Town and Country Club along the route, as well.
