Park Rapids man killed in icy crash near Blackduck

A Park Rapids man was killed and a woman was injured after a crash Sunday evening near Blackduck.

The state patrol says 19-year-old Zennah Erickson of Park Rapids was on Highway 71 south of Blackduck when she lost control on the snowy and icy roads.

The Kia Rio turned sideways into oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford F250 around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Erickson’s passenger, 20-year-old Colton Erickson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zennah Erickson was transported to Sanford Fargo for treatement of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ford driver, 50-year-old Daryl Lundberg of Blackduck, was not injured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and all were wearing their seatbelts.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Blackduck Fire and Ambulance, and Bemidji Ambulance assisted at the scene.
