Parks & Rec Day camp canceled

The city of Bemidji’s parks will be quieter this summer, at least for June.

According to a release, the Parks and Rec’s “Kids in Motion” summer day camp will be canceled for the month of June. The day camp may be able to start later in the summer, but organizers of the program say there is still a lot of uncertainty on what activities will be able to proceed this summer.

Parks and Rec is offering “Rec on the Go” through the summer, even if Kids in Motion resumes.

Summer Theater Camp, a collaboration between Parks and Rec and Bemidji Community Theater, will be postponed until 2021.

The theater camp recently received a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council.

Parks and Rec coordinator Jaime Anderson said they aren’t at risk of losing the grant dollars as long as they are used before the end of June 2021.
