Pedestrian killed in crash in Coleraine

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a pedestrian was killed in a crash in Coleraine early Sunday morning.

According to the report, a Ford Fusion, driven by 55-year-old Paul Powers of Grand Rapids, was southbound on Highway 169 at Bay Road when he struck a pedestrian, who was walking south in the right driving lane.

Fifty-nine-year-old Michael Marok of Bovey was identified as the pedestrian. His body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Anoka.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and no other injuries were reported.

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office, the Coleraine Police Department, the Grand Rapids Police Department, Trout Lake Fire, and MEDS1 Ambulance assisted at the scene.
