Representative John Persell (DFL-Bemidji) said in an interview today that he is working on bills that would address PFAs here and elsewhere across the state.
Persell is also carrying a bill, authorizing the city of Bemidji to raise the local sales tax a quarter percent, to cover capital costs at the Sanford Center, as well as costs related to the upcoming water treatment plant to treat PFAs, and an expansion at the wastewater treatment facility.
Persell says that bill moved through last night’s committee, and has a couple committee stops on the way before it will be voted on in the legislature.
With legislative approval, the city could then place the three-part sales tax increase question on the ballots this November.
