Around 30 gathered Labor Day at Paul Bunyan Park to address social justice issues.
The gathering included a series of speakers, including Aldene Morrison, mother of Tony May. May died while in custody at the Beltrami County Jail.
Members of the new non-partisan, nonprofit group “Project for Change” were registering new voters during the event, and also held a raffle.
“Project for Change,” according to a release, is a “change group, formed on building awareness, creating social opportunities, and enriching the quality of life for historically marginalized, disadvantaged, oppressed and resilient black and brown communities through policy, accountability and action.”
