UPDATE: On Wednesday, July 20, searchers found the body of 21-year-old Logan Roy.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says a search is underway for a vulnerable 21-year-old who may be armed.

Law enforcement was contacted after family members of Logan Roy reported concerning text messages and that a loaded handgun was missing.

The release says Logan left home to go for a walk, as he often does when experiencing a mental health crisis.

On Monday, family, friends and community members from the Red Lake and Bemidji area searched the area of Snowshoe Lane and Highway 89. Deputies were first contacted Sunday evening with an initial search of the immediate area. Searches so far have been unsuccessful, on the ground and in the air.

Logan was last seen wearing gray camouflage pants, a long-sleeve black shirt and brown boots. He’s about 5’10” and 275 pounds and has recently bleached his hair. He was last seen walking near mile marker 16 on Highway 89.

If anyone sees Logan, they’re asked not to approach him and call 911, using extreme caution. Anyone with information on Logan’s whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s Office at (218)333-9111.
